
Head Athletic Trainer
Mark Vrba begins his first year as the NIACC Staff Head Athletic Trainer after being contracted out by Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa as the Head Athletic Trainer since August of 2002. Mr. Vrba was born and raised in Mason City and frequented NIACC athletic events throughout his childhood. Mark graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in May of 2002 with Bachelors Degrees in Athletic Training and Biology. He then went to work for Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa as a clinical athletic trainer and was contracted out to cover NIACC as the Head Athletic Trainer.
While working at Mercy Mr. Vrba obtained a Masters of Science degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion: with an emphasis in Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention from California University of Pennsylvania in December of 2005. In May of 2006 Mr. Vrba was named coordinator of the Mercy Athletic Republic Sports Training program and remained head of this program until Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa had to shut the program down due to budget cuts in April of 2008. Along with his Athletic Training Certification Mr. Vrba is also a Performance Enhancement Specialist as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist which he uses to train local junior high school, high school and college athletes to help them achieve their performance enhancement goals to improve in their sports. Mark currently resides in Mason City.
