Ron Angell, currently of Des Moines, played Men’s Basketball from 1976-1978. While at NIACC he was 5th overall in single season scoring average with 22.2 points per game and he became 3rd leading all time scorer with 1101 career points. He continued on to play at Drake University.

Joe Corso, currently of New Orleans, Louisiana, wrestled from 1971-1973 at NIACC. In 1971 and 1973 he placed 5th in the NJCAA National Tournament at 118 lbs. He also helped lead NIACC to the NJCAA National Wrestling Tournament Title in 1973. After NIACC he went on to wrestle at Purdue where he qualified for the US Olympic Team.

Jerry Dunbar, currently of Mason City, was Athletic Director, Football Coach, Baseball Coach in his 25 years at NIACC. Dunbar played football at NIACC in 1961 and 1962 and was named Honorable Mention All American. He coached football for 9 years and baseball for 19 years. As athletic director he oversaw a program that had numerous championship efforts, including the 1995 Men’s Basketball National Championship, 3 national tournament qualifying volleyball teams, 4 national tournament women’s basketball teams, and 6 bowl appearances by the football team.

Herb Konigsmark, currently of Mason City, was the men’s basketball coach from 1965-1991. He had 7 20-win seasons and compiled an overall record of 443-273. He had 17 winning seasons and a number of his players went on to play at four-year schools. He also taught American History.

Art Lundblad, deceased, coached football and was the athletic director during the 1960’s through to the 1970’s. As football coach he coached the first undefeated team in 25 years with a record of 7-0 and he also compiled an overall record of 62-44-4. As athletic director he was instrumental in hiring fellow inductees Herb Konigsmark and Kaye Young.

Terry McKissick, currently of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, played Men’s Basketball from 1973-1975. While playing he was named Honorable Mention All American and was an All Conference selection. He set many records while playing, including, among others, most rebounds in a season with 415, most points in a season with 749, most steals in a season with 125. He continued on to play at Drake University.

Dennis Shaffer, currently of Newport Beach, California, played Men’s Basketball from 1973-1975. While playing he was named to two All American teams and was an All Conference selection. For his career he averaged 27 points a game. He set records for most field goals in a game with 24, most points scored in a game with 51, most field goals in a season with 340, and most field goals in a career with 670. He continued on to play at the University of Minnesota.

Marla (Shuey) Behrens, currently of California, Maryland, played Women’s Basketball from 1973-1975. While playing she was named to the 1st Team All American, MVP in the NJCAA Basketball Tournament, 1975 All Region XII 1st Team, and 1974 All American. She is also the career rebound leader with 559 and is the single-season rebound leader with 389.

Mark Streeter, currently of Hampton, Virginia, played Football in 1977. He was named an NJCAA All American and a California JUCO All-American at NIACC. He went on to the University of Arizona where he was named All Pac-10. He was then drafted by the Detroit Lions in 1980 and then went on to play in the Canadian Football League for over ten years.

Kaye Young, currently of Mason City, coached Wrestling from 1967-1976. He coached 3 individual national champions and 1 Olympic Wrestler. He was named the 1973 Wrestling Coach of the Year. He initiated the wrestling program here at NIACC in 1967 and coached the National Championship team in 1973. He also coached 3 national runner-up teams in 1970, 1971, 1972.
