
DAVENPORT (September 21, 2007) - Dan Mayer finished 24th individually of 409 runners and the North Iowa Area Community College men's cross country team placed 16th of 32 teams at the Brissman/Lundeen Invitational held Friday at Credit Island Park.
Mayer ran the 8,000-meter course in 26 minutes, 47 seconds. The individual champion, Iowa Central Community College's Joshua Sawe, was clocked in 25:08.
NIACC had a team total of 439 points as host Augustana College (43) won the men's team title for the fifth straight year. Juan Rodriguez ran a 28:14 to finish second among Trojan runners and 84th overall. Sam Meyer was 146th in 29:03, Seth Blanchard was 159th in 29:11, Sean Coleman was 172nd in 29:25 and Quentin Adair was 192nd in 29:39. Trevor Benn, who was 238th, ran a 30:17 to round out the NIACC finishers.
In the women's competition, NIACC had a team total of 599 points - good for 20th of 26 teams - as the University of Wisconsin-Parkside had a low team score of 70 points. Kelly Ipsen finished 64th individually for the Trojans, running 6,000 meters in 24:39. Kacy Nehowig was 98th in 25:13 as 309 runners competed overall. Jessica Lamp of UW-Parkside ran a 21:50 for individual honors.
Both NIACC cross country teams were ranked in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association polls, the men rated 18th and the women ranked 22nd.
