Elly Meyer Signs with NIACC Cross Country

Elly Meyer, a senior at Fremont (NE) High School, has signed a national letter of intent to run cross country at North Iowa Area Community College. "I’m very excited that Elly chose NIACC," stated Head Coach Curtis Vais. "She will bring a great deal of running experience to our program."

Meyer holds a high school personal best of 15:43 in the 4K and helped lead Fremont High School to a state championship. She competed in high school for Head Coach Diane Hento, and was a four-year letter winner. "I am excited to go to a place where I can get a degree and still be able to run cross country," Meyer stated. "I feel comfortable with Coach Vais, and I like the town of Mason City."

NIACC’s Cross Country team, under the direction of Head Coach Curtis Vais, finished a successful first season by sending 6 runners to the NJCAA National Meet last November. NIACC recently announced the creation of a track and field program to begin during the 2005-2006 school year.
