NIACC Softball Collects 700+ lbs of Clothing

for Haitian Earthquake Victims

2/5/2010 - North Iowa Area Community College softball players collected over 700 pounds of clothing donations for their Haitian Earthquake Clothing Drive to support victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti.

"We know that the earthquake in Haiti affected so many people. We wanted to do our part to help in some small way and, hopefully, to get other people thinking about what they can do to help. We're happy to have led this effort,” Tyler Sisco, NIACC director of student life and head softball coach, said.

Once clothing donations were collected, the students sorted and packed the items for shipping. Cash donations were used for shipping costs as well as in-kind transportation donations from Dohrn Transfer.

Trojan Softball Makes Annual Contribution to Women's Shelter

4/20/2009 - Head Coach Tyler Sisco and members of the 2009 NIACC Trojan Softball team visited the Northern Lights Women's Shelter in Mason City to make its annual donation and tour the facility. The softball team has several overnight trips throughout the season and has collected the complimentary personal hygiene supplies that hotels offer in their guests' rooms. The team, in turn, delivers these items to the local women's shelter for their residents.

"Our team enjoys giving back to a community that is so supportive of our program," Sisco said.

The Trojans distributed more than 300 pieces of personal hygiene supplies.

11/17/2008 - NIACC Softball players Hilary Brown and Bree Giordana along with Head Coach Tyler Sisco visited Mrs. Fischer’s afternoon pre-school class at Madison Elementary. They shared information about Coach Sisco’s job, tried on softball equipment, and answered all sorts of questions.
