NJCAA National Indoor Track and Field Meet

The NIACC Men's and Women's Track teams are preparing for the NJCAA National Indoor Track & Field Meet which will be held at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. The women qualified 8 events and the men 3 events. Listed below are the athletes and the events that they are participating in. Good luck to Coach Vais and his runners!

All-Region Indoor Track & Field Athletes

Congratulations to the following athletes for making the All-Region team for indoor track.

Monica Garcia - 800m & 4x800 Relay Kalyn Krukenberg - 5000m & Mile

Konnie Keifer - 3000m & 4x800 Relay Sammy Nelson - 600m & 4x800 Relay

Marielle Svardh - 600m & 4x800 Relay Brittany Weaver - Pentathlon

Brandon Leibold - 5000m Seth Mosley - Long Jump

NJCAA Region XI Indoor Meet - Fri., Feb.19th & Sat., Feb. 20th

The NIACC Women's and Men's Track teams ran another great meet at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake for the NJCAA Region XI Championships. Brittany Weaver broke the school record in the Pentathlon with a score of 2424. Brittany also placed 8th in the 55m Hurdles. Kalyn Kruckenberg continues to run well and improve her time in the 5000m (3rd) and the Mile (2nd). The 4x800m Relay, consisting of Marielle Svardh, Sammy Nelson, Monica Garcia, and Konnie Keifer, were 2010 Region XI Champions! In the 600m, Marielle Svardh captured the championship and Sammy Nelson was right behind her for a second place finish. The men also did well for NIACC. Mitchell Thompson placed 8th in the Shot Put. Ethan Dykstra placed 7th in the 55m Hurdles. In the Men's Mile, Raleigh Morgan placed 7th and Brandon Leibold placed 9th. Chase Wilkinson placed 3rd and Zach McDill placed 6th in the 600m. In the 800m, Raleigh Morgan placed 6th and Chase Anderson placed 10th. The NIACC Women's and Men's teams will travel to St. Olaf in Northfield, MN on Friday, February 26th.

BVU Challenge - Saturday, February 13th

The NIACC Women's and Men's Track teams had another record-breaking weekend. The teams traveled to Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, IA. Marielle Svardh qualified for Nationals, broke the team record, and placed second in the 800m with a time of 2:26.44. Kalyn Kruckenberg finished 3rd in the 3000m and a personal best with a time of 10:45.87. Laurel Murphy placed 2nd in the 55H with a time of 8.66. In the 600m, Sammy Nelson placed 2nd and Shelby Hanig placed 4th. For the men in the 600m, Chase Wilkinson placed 3rd. Raleigh Morgan set a new team record in the 800m with a time of 2:01.92. Ethan Dykstra set a new team record in the 55H with a time of 8.14. Click here for complete meet results.

Cyclone Open - Friday, February 5th & Saturday, February 6th

Raleigh Morgan qualified for Nationals in the 1000m with a time of 2:36.17 finishing 5th. Brandon Leibold had a solid performance in the 5000m running 15:48.29. Kalyn Kruckenberg qualified for Nationals and set a new school record in 5000m with a time of 18:58.13. Click here for complete meet results for Friday, February 5th. Hilltop Invitational - Saturday, February 6th

In the Women's 800, Marielle Svardh finsihed 5th with the time of 2:28.95, Sammy Nelson finished 9th with the time of 2:32.10, and Monica Garcia finished 11th with the time of 2:34.43. Monica Garcia finished 9th in the Mile with the time of 5:48.68. For the men, the NIACC Weight Throwers had a great day! Travis Jones had a throw of 12.9m/42-4ft and Corbin Sprung had a throw of 12.8m/42-0ft. Click here for complete results.

Spartan Invite - Saturday, January 30, 2010

The NIACC Men's and Women's Track teams traveled to the University of Dubuque on Saturday, January 30th. In the Mile event ,Kalyn Kruckenberg placed 3rd in the mile and qualified for Nationals, Raleigh Morgan placed 3rd, Brandon Leibold placed 4th, and Casey Robertson placed 5th. In the 55 Meter Hurdles, Laurel Murphy placed 2nd and Ethan Dykstra placed 3rd and set a new school record with the time of 8.23. Brandon Leibold was the winner in the 1000 Meter event. On Saturday, February 6th, part of the team will be traveling to Iowa State to compete and the rest of the team will travel to Cornell College in Mount Vernon for the Hilltop Invitational. ISU Open - Friday, January 22 and Saturday, January 23, 2010

The NIACC Women's and Men's Track teams got their season off to a great start at the Iowa State Open. The women's Distance Medley Relay (Monica Garcia, Sammy Nelson, Marielle Svardh, Kalyn Kruckenberg) qualified for Nationals and set a new team record of 13:30.20. Kalyn Kruckenberg also qualified for Nationals and set a new team record in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:08.08. Ethan Dykstra set a new team record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8:81.
