DAYTONA BEACH, FL (May 18, 2007) – North Iowa Area Community College women’s golfers Kayli Jones (Garner/Garner-Hayfield) and Whitney Weber (Clear Lake/HS) finished tied for 73rd and 86th respectively at the National Junior College Athletic Association women’s golf tourney held May 14-17.


Jones, a freshman, improved every day on the vaunted LPGA International golf course, starting with a 99 for 18 holes on Day 1 and ending with a 91 while producing a four-round total of 382. Weber, who was playing in her second NJCAA championship, finished with a 412 over four rounds. The sophomore posted her low score of 100 on Day 3. She placed 60th at nationals in 2006. Brittany Lockwood, another sophomore, also qualified for nationals but was unable to compete due to an illness.


Ida Svenningsson of team champion McLennan Community College (TX) won individual honors with a four-round score of 299. Team runner-up Redlands Community College (OK) posted a score of 1,244, eight shots behind McLennan. Redlands had the second and third-place finishers in Grace Jeong (301) and defending champion Woori Shin (304). Shin shot a 71 on the final round, the best 18-hole score of the event. Ashley Aguilera of Daytona Beach Community College (FL) – the host school - shot a 307 for fourth overall.


To qualify for nationals, Weber carded an 84 to place seventh individually at the Region XI women’s golf meet while Jones was ninth with a score of 85 and Lockwood shot a 90 and tied for 10th.
