The two wrestlers are both redshirting this season on the NIACC campus.
And they’re serving as training partners for NIACC sophomore Aaron Hancock.
“Glenn and Albert — I owe everything to them,” Hancock said. “I stayed with them all summer.”
Hancock went 3-0 at 165 pounds during Saturday’s triangular against Northwest Wyoming, Ellsworth and Rochester in the NIACC gym.
NIACC went 1-2 in its first home action since Nov. 1. The Trojans dropped a 30-11 decision to Northwest Wyoming, fell 32-8 to Ellsworth, and stopped Rochester 23-21.
Hancock picked up three technical falls over Northwest Wyoming’s Tyrell Wright (18-2), Ellsworth’s Keith Meeks (17-0) and Rochester’s Dan Kopp, 20-4.
White, the 149-pound NJCAA champion, was in the stands cheering on his training partner on Saturday.
Hancock, who was a national qualifier a year ago, said he serves as an assistant coach in the wrestling room.
“If he takes me down, he shows me what I did wrong,” Hancock said. “If I take a shot and it’s a lousy shot, he’ll tell me not to do that.
“He still beats me, but he encourages me to do better.”
Saturday’s competition was the first since Nov. 8 for Hancock, who injured his knee at the Daktronics Open in Brookings, S.D.
“I was all right,” he said. “About the second period, I started to feel a little gassed.
“I just did my best to get it over with as fast as possible.”
First-year NIACC coach Mark Schwab said he was pleased with Hancock’s return to the lineup.
“He’s just been back in the room for a week, so he did well at 165,” the coach said.
Schwab said he was also pleased with heavyweight Zach Rosol, a former Nashua-Plainfield prep.
Rosol picked up wins over Ellsworth’s Bojan Djukic (8-3) and Rochester’s Tyler Lindhart (3-0).
“He beat two all-Americans from a year ago, so that’s a big day,” Schwab said.
NIACC returns to action next Saturday at the Dick Walker Invitational in Waverly.
After next Saturday’s invitational, the Trojans are idle until Jan. 3 when they wrestled at the Loras Open in Dubuque.
Schwab said he thinks his team will be a better one after the holiday break.
“I do believe we’re going to be good at the end of the year.”
