College Credit Opportunities for High School Students

Post-Secondary Enrollment Option – PSEO

Description The Post-Secondary Enrollment Options Act provides opportunities for high school students to pursue coursework not available in their high school. The PSEO Legislative Act promotes rigorous academic pursuits. Students earn high school and college credit.

On-Site Contract Class

Description NIACC class taught at local school by a high school instructor who meets NIACC teaching qualifications; some NIACC Academies are taught by NIACC instructors; requires 28E contract.

Articulated Class

Description High school career or technical class that closely matches competencies of NIACC course. High school and NIACC instructors sign an agreement that permits students who receive a B- or higher and meet NIACC course competencies to receive articulated NIACC course credit; requires articulation agreement.

Career Link Program

Description Course of study that combines two years of secondary education with two years of post-secondary education in a specific career area. Students receive high school and college credit, thus earning up to one year of credit toward a college degree while still in high school; requires 28E contract.

Career Link Academy

Description Course of study that combines two years of secondary education and two years of post-secondary education in a specific career area. Students receive high school and college credit; thus earning up to one year of credit toward a college degree while still in high school; schools partner with NIACC and often with other school districts.
