Position Title
Associate Director - Financial Aid (PSS/6)
(12-month contract)
Job Summary
Provide leadership for the College Workstudy
programs. Assist with the administration and supervision of the College
Financial Aid program.
Responsibilities
Advise students, parents, staff, and external
agencies and constituencies regarding the availability of student financial aid
programs. Provide individual and group assistance to students involved in the
financial aid application process. Review and verify Student Aid reports. Assist
with the development and processing of financial aid awards with primary
responsibility directed at the workstudy and loan programs. Refer and assist
students in securing workstudy positions. Establish and promote an off-campus
community service workstudy program which complies with current federal
regulations. Monitor federal, state, and institutional workstudy budgets. Plan,
schedule, and conduct orientation and training sessions for students and staff
on workstudy procedures. Facilitate the implementation of the Federal Direct
Student Loan program by developing, coordinating and conducting institutional
direct lending task force activities, including departmental training sessions.
Award, certify, and monitor all loans associated with the Federal Direct Student
Loan program. Coordinate monthly reconciliation of all Federal Direct Student
Loan accounts with the Business Office. Provide supervision of the Financial Aid
Office in the absence of the director.
Perform in a manner which
strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of
the College, including opportunities for student recruitment
Qualifications
Bachelors degree and a minimum of one year
related work experience required. Must possess knowledge of computer program
systems and their implementation. Efficient and cordial telephone skills,
excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to understand
and interpret federal regulations on financial aid.
Salary/Benefits
Salary based on experience. Fringe benefits of Blue Cross/Blue Shield major
medical health insurance, eye care, dental, life and disability insurance,
retirement benefits as provided by Social Security and Iowa Public Employees’
Retirement System (IPERS) or TIAA-CREF.

The College
North Iowa Area Community College has the distinction of
being the first public two-year college in the state of Iowa, having been
established in 1918 as Mason City Junior College. NIACC is an integral part of
the educational, cultural, and economic foundation of the nine-county region it
serves. The College operates a main campus in Mason City, a progressive
community of 30,000 located halfway between Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Des
Moines, Iowa. The main campus encompasses over 500 acres of land, including
contemporary facilities, an agricultural technology center, athletic facilities,
and lakeside student housing. Mason City and surrounding communities provide a
strong manufacturing and retail base with outstanding schools and cultural and
recreational opportunities.
Workforce Development Center
Iowa Workforce Development in partnership with NIACC and
the Iowa Department of Human Services provide oversight and administration of
federal, state, and local Workforce programs. Services are delivered throughout
a seven-county area in North Iowa with offices in Forest City, Charles City, and
Mason City. The Mason City Workforce Center was established in September 1996 to
provide one-stop employment services to employers and job seekers.
