The MurphysA significant grant from NIACC alumni David and Phyllis Murphy has made the Murphy Manufacturing Technology Center possible.
The founder of David Manufacturing Company, David enrolled at Mason City Junior College in 1935 and 49 years later graduated from NIACC. His wife Phyllis, a veteran piano teacher, is a 1950 NIACC graduate.
The couple consistently and quietly supported organizations throughout North Iowa for many years. After 40 years at the keyboard, Phyllis is still actively teaching piano. David was active with Toastmasters, Rotary, the Mason City Foundation, and the Mason City Parks & Recreation Board.
David and Phyllis were recognized by the National Council for Resource Development for their generosity. They received the Benefactor Award for the state of Iowa, which is awarded to individuals, foundations or businesses/corporations for outstanding contributions to community colleges.
