Course Title: Internet Law

Prerequisite: COMP-110 (15:140), Introduction to Computers & Information Systems or permission of the instructor.  

Course Description:  

Students will learn and examine legal issues associated with e-commerce, including but limited to, intellectual property protection, rights of privacy, content control, antitrust, and problems of jurisdiction. (45-0) 

Course Information 

Students can expect to:
 
1.  Conduct research relative to various internet legal issues as they relate to commercial activity;
 
2.  Identify and critically analyze the legal concerns occasioned by the internet's impact on social, cultural, and economic institutions.
 
3.  Understand the impact of the internet and technology on such areas as jurisdiction, copyright, trademarks, contract, taxation, securities offerings, privacy, obscenity, defamation, security, and computer crime.
 
4.  Understand the impact of the internet on economic globalization, and the international legal issues that have arisen as a result
