Purpose: This course, developed by the Emergency Nurses’ Association, is designed to present core-level knowledge and psychomotor skills associated with implementing the trauma nursing process based on 2006 Updates.
Program Objectives: *Describe the assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation as they related to the nursing care of the trauma patient. *Discuss etiology, mechanism of injury, pathophysiology, primary and secondary assessment, signs and symptoms, stabilization/transport, and interventions as they related to the trauma patient. *Describe and demonstrate airway management, trauma nursing process, chest trauma intervention, spinal immobilization and splinting.
